Tutors usually bill parents monthly or per package of lessons. Listing the dates of the lessons avoids misunderstandings about missed or cancelled sessions.

Put the student’s name in the item description and the parent who pays in the client field.

What to put on a Tutoring Invoice

  • Student and subject. Who was taught and what.
  • Lesson dates. Or the number of lessons in the period.
  • Rate. Per hour or per lesson.
  • Materials. Books or exam fees if you paid them.
  • Cancellation policy. For example, lessons cancelled less than 24 hours before are charged.

Questions about the Invoice Generator

Should I invoice each lesson?

Monthly invoices are easier for families. Packages of 10 lessons paid in advance are also common.

Who should be named as the client?

The person who pays, usually a parent. Put the student’s name in the description.

Do tutors need to charge tax?

It depends on your country and income. Many private tutors are exempt; turn tax off if it does not apply.
