What is a Estimate?
An estimate is an approximate price for work whose final cost may vary, common in construction, repairs and creative services. It helps the client budget before the work is confirmed.
Create a job estimate online for free. This estimate maker helps contractors and service providers price labour and materials, add tax and a validity date, and download a clean PDF. Use it as a free estimate template and convert it to an invoice when the work is done.
What to include on an estimate
- Estimate number and date. A reference for follow-up and acceptance.
- Customer and job location. Who the work is for and where it takes place.
- Labour and materials. Split them so the customer understands where the money goes.
- Assumptions. What the price is based on, such as measurements or access to the site.
- Estimated total and validity. The approximate total, including tax, and how long it stays valid.
- Note that the price may vary. State that the final cost depends on the actual work required.
How to write an estimate
- Enter your business name, address and logo in "Your business". Save them as your default and they will be filled in next time.
- Add the other party's details and the document number and dates. Numbers increase automatically.
- List the items. Quantities, prices, taxes and totals update in the preview as you type.
- Pick a template, colour and document language, then click "Download PDF" or "Print".
Estimating mistakes to avoid
- Presenting an estimate as a fixed price: label it clearly as an estimate.
- Forgetting materials, travel or disposal costs.
- Not updating the customer when the real cost is going to exceed the estimate.

Is an estimate binding?

How accurate should an estimate be?

Can I convert an estimate to an invoice?
Yes. Use “Convert to” and choose Invoice once the work is done; then adjust quantities to the actual work.
Is the Estimate Generator free?
Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you create.
Is my data safe?
The document is built entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our servers; drafts are kept only on your device.
